"As the Allied Invasion of Normandy launched in the pre-dawn hours of June 6, 1944, Henry Langrehr was among the thousands of Allies who parachuted into occupied France amid heavy anti-aircraft fire. Many of his fellow paratroopers died, but Henry miraculously survived, and with the remaining members of his unit valiantly battled enemy tanks to a standstill. On June 29, however, he was captured by the Nazis.
