Tough Love

Tough Love is a collection of weekly newspaper columns, front-page feature articles, and other commentary by a longtime Washington, DC reporter who returned home to Norwich, Connecticut. Planning a second career and a new life, the author instead found his journalist's instincts at full alert as he watched--often incredulously--as the city's leaders grasped at one plan after another to save the city. Tough Love is more than the story--stories, really--of one old American city; it's a close-up look at what has been called 'the other America,' the left-behind hometowns that made the nation wealthy--but now struggle to find a new place in a new millennium that seems to be passing them by.
