Eli Terry's pillar & scroll clock is a uniquely American innovation. The result of Terry's ambition to create a lower cost, mass produced, 30 hour clock, the pillar & scroll revolutionized the American clockmaking industry. The result of a comprehensive exhibit at the National Watch and Clock Museum, this catalog brings together a collection of over forty examples of pillar & scroll clocks. Each clock is illustrated with color photographs of the case and movement and has a full written description. Through these examples, representing the work of thirty clockmakers, the evolution of pillar & scroll clocks over time is portrayed.
