These islands were discovered by Christopher Columbus in 1493, and because there were so many, they reminded him of St. Ursula and her eleven thousand virgins. The Virgin Islands are some of the most beautiful islands in the West Indies. The British Virgin Islands is known as the yachting capital of the world.
