Introduction to Tort Law in India

Tort law is an important component of civil law in India. It covers the cases that relate to damages caused by an individual or group to another, but which do not come under the ambit of criminal law. Examples include defamation, nuisance and trespassing. Typically, damages are awarded by the court to compensate for the loss suffered. In this book we briefly discuss what is tort law, the various types of tort and the laws in India that are applicable for different types of tort.
