First extensive monograph on the work of visual artist Anouk Griffioen (b. 1979, Enschede, NL). She studied at the Willem de Kooning Academy in Rotterdam from 1998 to 2002, and pursued Art History at Leiden University from 2004 to 2006. Griffioen lives and works in Rotterdam (NL). She held solo exhibitions at Gallery Vriend van Bavink in Amsterdam with Foret (2020), at the Erasmus Gallery in Rotterdam with Natur (2018), and at TENTRotterdam with Navigating the Imaginary (2016). Other notable projects include Metamorphoses at Mathilde C. Gallery in Paris (2014), Visible in the Background at Hauser Gallery in Zurich (2013) and They Make the Path by Walking together with Orange Babies in Amsterdam (2015). Her work has also been shown at Art Rotterdam in 2015 and 2020 and is included in several public and private collections, including that of the Erasmus University Rotterdam, Ministry of Education, Culture and Science (OCW), and the Kunstcollectie Hogeschool Rotterdam. Griffioen has collaborated with Annemarieke van Drimmelen and Sophie Vlaming from 2009 to 2010, as well with the Dutch television series Penoza, created by Diederik van Rooijen and Johan Nijenhuis from 2011 to 2017. She is currently engaged in Opposites in Paradise with artist Luuk Bode and Common Grounds with Jochem Rotteveel. In recognition of her contribution to contemporary drawing, Griffioen received a Stipendium for Established Artists in both 2016 and 2020. She also was awarded De kracht van Rotterdam (the Power of Rotterdam), a photography prize in 2013, For as long as it lasts (Nu het er nog is) is the title of her first solo museum exhibition at the Kröller-Müller Museum in Otterlo from March 14 to September 20, 2026, featuring new and recent works.
