Johan Verbeke is a visiting professor at the universities of Brussels (VUB) and Lille (UCL, France) where he teaches master classes in diplomacy. He has been a diplomat for 35 years. He served as Chief of Staff to two Ministers of Foreign Affairs and was a Special Representative of the UN Secretary General. His last postings as Ambassador were in New York, where he represented Belgium in the Security Council, then London and fi nally Washington. Verbeke is a graduate from the Yale Law School.
