The Art Dealer Max Stern. In 1934, the art dealer Max Stern 19041986 took over Galerie Stern, which was founded by his father on Konigsallee in Dusseldorf.In 1935, Stern was denied admission to the Reich Chamber of Fine Arts due to his Jewish ancestry, and thus was compelled to give up his respected art gallery.At the end of 1937, the art historian was forced to conclusively liquidate his business. Shortly thereafter, Stern fled to London via Paris, before seeking refuge in Canada in 1941.
