This book contributes to two interdisciplinary topics with broad appeal, namely Darwin studies and emotions research. It provides the first comprehensive account of associationist theories of emotion from the 17th-19th centuries, and it offers the first detailed analysis of Charles Darwin's engagement with this philosophical tradition.
