Chestertown, Maryland, founded in 1706, is located in Kent County on Maryland's Eastern Shore. It is the home of Washington College, the 10th oldest college in the United States. This CHRONOLOGICAL HISTORY OF CHESTERTOWN, MARYLAND 1900 THROUGH 1993 is a compilation of historical abstracts taken from the official Minutes of the Chestertown Mayor and Council meetings and two local newspapers, THE ENTERPRISE and THE KENT COUNTY NEWS from 1900 through 1993. These abstracts have been indexed to make the book useful as a resource for anyone interested in Chestertown's history. There is a section "Shared Memories About Chestertown Including the Period from 1949 to 1955" with contributions from W. Porter Ellington who grew up in Chestertown. A section titled "Remembering the late 1970s, 1980s and the early 1990s" includes an assortment of photos of people and events of the 1970s, 80s and early 90s with captions. The last section, Miscellaneous Scrapbook Remembrances, includes miscellaneous Chestertown photos of other periods, some with captions and some without.
