When we were producing yearly Best New African Poets anthologies, we knew we could never achieve perfection, or right representation and balance. They were imperfect. So these anniversary anthologies are our opportunity to create strong scholarship in one area, to take a moment and look back at the journey and reflect on the coming future. This particular anthology only has African poets writing in English. BEST NEW AFRICAN POETS 10TH ANNIVERSARY: Selected English African Poets has 269 poems from poets from Nigeria, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Kenya, Ghana, Malawi, Zambia, Botswana, Swaziland, Lesotho, Cameroon, Uganda, Egypt, Tunisia, Sierra Leone, Tanzania, Sudan, South Sudan, Namibia, Equatorial Guinea, and many others writing primarily in English.
