A Single Thread Of Hope

I'd followed the crazy path that the universe had laid out for me, even if I hadn't understood the whys or hows at the time. Eat an apple and get knocked up? Check. Go to Crete heavily pregnant? Also check. Accidentally bond enough Gods to start a water polo team? With pleasure. Gestate the new Fates? Triple check. I'd hidden away in a fortress in the middle of nowhere, yet still, it wasn't enough for the universe. The hits-or should I say, the mythological monsters that were enough to make even the strongest warriors quake in fear-kept coming. Despite the turmoil and fear, I'd never felt such happiness either. For the first time in so long, I wasn't alone. I had people to rely on. I was adored, and even loved. However, news of my existence was spreading to other Pantheons. The world was changing, and allies from the most unusual of places were knocking on the door. Apparently, not everyone was happy with the status quo, and some people were more than anxious for the birth of the new Fates and a subsequent new world order. But I didn't want to be their Vessel. Their Mother of Fate. I just wanted to be Wren again.
